Elderly Man Charged in Strip Poker Sex Offense Case
An elderly pensioner from the Scottish town of Prestwick was charged with committing sex offenses, in connection with an incident in which he engaged a 10-year-old boy in a game of strip poker. Despite the severity of the charge, James Truesdale will face no jail time, but rather, will have to pay a fine of £400.

Empire Online Releases Second Profit Warning, But Player Signups Still Strong
Since PartyGaming's announcement last week that it was taking steps to separate itself from marketing partners known as "skins," Empire Online, the most notable skin in the PartyGaming saga, yesterday issued its second profit warning. With Empire Online's online poker players no longer getting to share in the millions of players on the PartyGaming network, Empire admitted that it was seeing a slowdown in the rake created by its white label online poker site, Empire Poker.

South Dakota Bar Gives Up Poker for Chance to Reopen
A bar in Harrisburg, South Dakota, has officially reopened its doors after having its beer license revoked. The bar closed after the poker tournaments it had been hosting were deemed illegal. Todd's Place reopened after an appeal was filed, and the bar's owner, Todd Erks, conceded not to allow card playing on the bar's premises.

WSOP Satellite Tournaments Planned for Latin America
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is reportedly heading south this winter, with satellite tournaments in the works for various locations in Latin America, starting in February 2006. Harrah's Entertainment's licensing wing, Harrah’s Licensing Company, LLC, has inked a deal with Latin American gaming corporation CIRSA, allowing the latter to coordinate WSOP satellite tournaments at its casinos.

WPT Enterprises Negotiates Broadcast Deal with Travel Channel, but Still Suing
Although still pursuing legal action against the Travel Channel, WPT Enterprises (WPTE) is reportedly in negotiations with the very same network regarding further partnership opportunities. WPTE originally filed the lawsuit, claiming that the Travel Channel had interfered with potential third party contractual relationships connected with the Professional Poker Tour (PPT), a new program developed by WPTE.
