Good News for Online Poker: Party Gaming to appear on FTSE 100 Index
Online poker company Party Gaming just doesn't seem to be able to keep out of the headlines, first with its tremendous IPO and subsequent spike in stock value, and then with last week's investor scare following a warning of slowed growth. Most recently, Party Gaming is making the news with word that the poker company will constitute the latest entry on the Financial Times-Stock Exchange (FTSE) 100 Index, a share index of the 100 biggest companies listed on the London Stock Exchange. PartyGaming is taking the place of recruitment firm Hays, after FTSE's quarterly reorganization. This comes as good news after last week's pessimistic prediction regarding the potential slowdown of the online poker industry. Another stroke of good fortune to hit Party Gaming was Commerzbank's decision to upgrade stock from “hold" to “buy," as reported by ShareCast, citing that the stock market overreacted to Party Gaming's report of a potential slowing of growth.
