Online Poker League Brings Firefighters and EMS Workers Together for Charity
New online poker league Fifthalarmpoker.com has created a niche poker site with a purpose. Fifthalarmpoker, an online poker site devoted to firefighters and emergency service (EMS) workers, devotes a percentage of its earnings to charity. The weekly poker league has been made possible through an operating partnership with online poker room Paradise Poker. League members compete against one another in the hopes of reaching the top spots on the leader-board, making them eligible for cash and other prizes. The next tournament scheduled at the site is slated for August 31st, and in order to enter, league members must pay a buy-in of $5. The total prize up for grabs is $5,000, plus the money pooled together from buy-ins. The featured September charity at Fifthalarmpoker is the Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows' and Children's fund, which raises money to pay for the education and emergency needs of the widows and children of firefighters. Aside from online poker tournaments and games, the site also contains valuable tutorial information, including rules and basic strategy for a number of popular poker game variations. The site also features a glossary of essential poker terms for beginner players.
