Doyle Brunson to Buy Out World Poker Tour Enterprises?
The company that created the World Poker Tour television show, WPT Enterprises, is watching their stock values soar in the wake of an offer by world-famous poker player Doyle Brunson, to buy out WPTE for $700 million. WPT Enterprises let that offer expire, allowing shares to drop from his offered 31 per share to 21 per share now. But apparently, there are still talks going on between Brunson and WPT, and there are several foreign online casino companies which might be stepping into the bidding arena. WPT has an online poker room which accepts bets from Asia and Europe, but not from the USA, where American-based companies cannot take web wagers. WPT is expected to be a significant player in the online poker market, with earnings per share expected to triple by 2006.
