Binion's Develops New Flagship Poker Tournament
Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel, the traditional home of the World Series of Poker, is trying to reclaim its standing in the world of poker, since the WSOP was bought up by Harrah's in 2004. Although the WSOP still holds its main event at Binion's the rest of the tournament now takes place at the Rio, removing its status as a trademark Binion's event. In response, Binion's has a new poker tournament of its own in the works, which is slated to follow the 2006 WSOP. Many details still remain to be determined, including tournament dates and prize pool. Binion's management, however, has already established that it plans on hosting the inaugural tournament in the fall of 2006. Binion's is currently amidst negotiations with potential sponsors, and is also looking for ways to make the tournament unique from others, particularly the WSOP.
