Star Poker Player Johnny Chan Breaks Records with Tenth WSOP Bracelet
This has truly been a record-breaking week and a half for the World Series of Poker. For starters, we had two firsts: The first father and son duo to both have won WSOP bracelets, Doyle and Todd Brunson, followed by the first celebrity to win a much-coveted bracelet, namely Jennifer Tilly. In addition, these ten days also saw Johnny Chan break the record for most lifetime wins after winning his tenth gold bracelet. Until WSOP event number 25, Chan was tied with Phil Hellmuth and Doyle Brunson for the record. This deadlock remained firmly in place for two whole years.
In event number 25, the Pot-Limit Hold 'em tournament started out with 425 players and by the time the tournament got to the final table, competition was narrowed down to bracelet holders only: Johnny Chan, Jerri Thomas, and Humberto Brenes. For his first place win, Chan won a respectable $303,025.
