PartyPoker to Move Server Center from Canada to Gibraltar
If potential legal confrontation in the U.S., a reduced IPO price, and investor ambivalence weren't enough, it seems that online poker company PartyGaming are encountering problems in their server base of Canada, as well. PartyGaming's operations are partially run out of Canada, thanks to a gaming license given by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. In its prospectus to investors, however, the poker company admitted that the validity of this license is uncertain, as the Kahnawake Gaming Commission may not have had the jurisdiction to issue a license to PartyGaming. Is an online poker giant like PartyGaming going to stick around waiting for a storm to hit? No, it's going to pick up and move its server center to online gaming haven Gibraltar. By August, PartyGaming's casino and bingo servers are expected to find a new home in Gibraltar, followed by the poker server in November.
