North Carolina Video Poker Supplier Settles Lawsuit
A lawsuit lodged against a North Carolina video poker supplier by Randolph County was settled last week to the tune of $500,000. In addition to the fine, Clarence "Bucky" Jernigan was required to hand over his machines to the authorities and was subsequently banished from the business. The only video poker venture still open to Jernigan is the repair of other businesses' video poker machines. Jernigan has three weeks grace before the deadline to pay the fine. By that time, he must also surrender his poker machines to the authorities, who will then destroy them. Described as a "public nuisance," Jernigan's video poker business raked in a total of $4.3 million over the past four year, with its 263 video poker machines distributed throughout 18 counties.
