Pacific Poker Gets into the March Madness Action
March Madness is officially here, but it's not only taking hold of bookies and sports betters; online poker site Pacific Poker has the March Madness bug as well. In honor of March Madness, Pacific Poker has launched a million dollar tournament going by the name "Big March Poker Blitz." Since the end of February, Pacific Poker has been hosting qualifying tournaments for the final championship event to be held on March 26, 2005. The next qualifying tournament is scheduled for March 21st. Players wishing to skip the preliminary tournaments and enter directly into the million dollar Texas hold'em tournament can do so by paying a $440 buy-in. Players in the preliminary regular cash games get ahead by saving points, which are earn for every showdown reached. A showdown refers to the stage at the end of a hand in which remaining players show their cards. The 100 players earning the most points win a bonus and qualify for the final tournament, in which they'll get a shot at winning a piece of the $1 million prize pool.
